E-Enterprise Guiding Principles
E-Enterprise relies on three foundational principles to continuously improve the business of environmental protection.
Collaborative leadership
Agency leaders from the Environmental Protection Agency, states, and Tribes are putting our heads together to adopt and share transformative solutions for environmental program management.
Streamlined processes
We optimize workflows, capitalize on efficiencies, and share best practices to improve environmental programs and meet the needs of government, business, and the public.
Technological transformation
We promote adoption of state-of-the-art technologies—including AI and advanced data platforms—to improve environmental decisions, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
Protecting the environment and human health is a shared responsibility. Our partners collaborate on innovative practices, processes, and technologies to more efficiently and effectively meet our mission.

E-Enterprise Partners
Our partner agencies embrace the shared responsibility of protecting the environment and human health while promoting efficiency and cost savings. E-Enterprise partners come from the U.S. EPA, states, and Tribes, and their collaborative work covers a wide range of environmental programs, including clean air and water, land and materials management, safe drinking water, and much more. We engage with individuals that have an equally wide range of knowledge and experience. Innovation requires people with expertise in program management, policy, operations, information technology, and more. E-Enterprise convenes partners across these disciplines and supports them as they solve challenges and share best practices.
Leading E-Enterprise
Thirty E-Enterprise Leadership Council (EELC) members lead the way defining issues and projects for E-Enterprise focus. The EELC includes 10 government officials each from the EPA, states, and Tribes, with three Co-chairs providing joint leadership. EELC members set strategic direction, contribute to E-Enterprise project teams, pinpoint issues impacting program efficiency, and share experience addressing those challenges. They also facilitate state and tribal engagement opportunities and serve as ambassadors by sharing the value and accomplishments of the E-Enterprise partnership in other venues.
E-Enterprise in Action
Guided by the E-Enterprise Leadership Council’s Strategic Direction, E-Enterprise partners bring the experience, vision, and subject matter expertise that powers our projects and teams. E-Enterprise helps partners work across agencies and programs to identify common problems, simplify processes, leverage technology, and share information. Our innovative solutions support better environmental and public health outcomes while saving time, reducing costs, and improving government services.
